Centre Manager Job Description
The Shinewater Shaftesbury Centre (SSC) is a help, advice and counselling centre. We offer support and help with a wide range of issues. These can include benefits, money advice, housing issues as well as family and employment situations. We also provide a free counselling service.

Job Title: Centre Development Manager
Salary: £14 per hour
Hours: 12 hours per week negotiable
Location: Based at the Centre in Milfoil Drive but working at other locations in the Eastbourne area as required.
Evenings: There may be a requirement to attend evening meetings. Time off in lieu will be managed with the Chair of Trustees
Access to Premises: There is access to the SSC and outreach locations for people confined to a wheelchair or unable to manage stairs.
Transport: Car ownership and a full driving license would be highly beneficial.

Role & Responsibility
- The SSC is a Christian charity and a Statement of Belief has been attached to the Articles of Memorandum since its inception in 2010. The Centre Development Manager/ Centre Manager is the person primarily responsible for ensuring, on behalf of the Trustees, a clear Christian testimony is maintained in ethos, motivation and it’s practices.
He or she will, when present, be personally responsible for ensuring each day’s work begins with a distinctively Christian prayer time. All other members of the team can choose whether or not they wish to join the session. He or she is responsible for ensuring suitable Christian literature is available for team members or prospective clients to read and to take away if they choose. He or she will represent the charity both within and beyond the Christian community and will be the interface between the SSC as a Christian charity and the community in general including fellow professionals from secular agencies. The post-holder must be able to make an appropriate response to any client, team member or fellow professional, at any time, perhaps without reference to another person, as regards Christian faith and practice. - Manage and recruit paid and voluntary staff.
- Manage a team comprising of paid staff and volunteers, both at the Centre and at any venue that may later be established, either temporary or permanent.
- Line Manage senior team members.
- Carry out support and review with all paid staff and, when appropriate, volunteers, or delegate support and review for Advisors to the Lead/Senior Advisor.
- Create training & development plans as appropriate.
- Facilitate Team Meetings as necessary.
- Ensure the Centre maintains records on client visits in accordance with current data protection legislation and policies in line with good practice.
- Plan and manage new projects as appropriate and as agreed with the Trustees.
- Monitor the progress of each aspect of the Centre’s work.
- Participate in meetings of the Trustees presenting verbal and written reports.
- Participate in meetings of local community groups as appropriate and promote good relationships.
- Participate in meetings and represent the Centre at meetings of the Eastbourne Christian Agency Network.
- Ensure that the SSC continues to be identifiable to its clients and the wider public, including otherprofessionals and agencies, as an expression of ‘Christian’ faith and practice.
- Work within the agreed policies and procedures of the Shinewater Shaftesbury Centre Trust.
- Be responsible for the SSC Quality processes and maintain the AQS quality mark.
- Manage Centre finances in liaison with the Trust Treasurer. This will include Banking cash and cheques and withdrawing petty cash.
- Promote the work of the Centre.
- Ensure that office security is maintained and confidences are not breached.
- Undertake all duties within the Trust’s framework, in accordance with its Governing Document and Constitution and its Christian ethos and standards and uphold professionalism, confidentiality and a non-judgmental approach.
- Carry out such other duties as determined by the Trustees of The Shinewater Shaftesbury Centre Trust.
