A single man  aged 30+ found the company he was working for under new management and unfortunately the new style of management meant that he was put under great pressure and bullied at work. He had no family to support him at all and consequently over time became very depressed and had to take time off work due to his health.
He found himself unable to return to the same work and he eventually became unemployed. His debts began to mount as he could not afford even minimum monthly repayments.
Fortunately at this point he made an appointment with an advisor here at the centre who worked with him to create a plan to manage his financial situation. Alongside this he is also receiving counselling, is learning to manage his depression and is now on a strong pathway to recovery.

A married lady came to us in a very distressed state.
Although working herself; her husband was unwell and unable look for work because of his situation. He was not receiving any income of any kind. This meant she alone was trying to cover all the household costs on just her single low income and she could not manage to ‘make ends meet’ however hard she tried.
This situation was putting great strain on the home relationships.
We advised them regarding what rights to financial help a person has when suffering this level of poor health. We were able to provide food parcels from Eastbourne Foodbank to help them in their immediate need.
We then helped them through the process of applying for benefits related to their circumstance and helped them through being assessed for those benefits to the point where they were awarded help.
A single parent who had grown up children living with her.  She had fled from another town where she had suffered domestic violence and her daughter sexual abuse. The daughter, who still suffers post-traumatic stress, had recently had a baby which she was finding difficult to look after properly unless well supported by her mother.
Our client was trying to keep working.  Unfortunately the circumstances meant that debts were building as the mother needed to take time off work due to the stress of the situation she found herself in and she fell into depression .
Enforcement agents became involved and were calling at the home placing even more stress on an already intolerable situation.
We worked with our client and negotiated a practical repayment plan with her creditors, that our client could realistically afford and she continues to make regular repayments and describes her  life as heading back in the right direction.
